About the role
We are currently recruiting two Financial Accountant roles with one offered as a 6-month contract and the other as a 12-month contract. Both roles are identical in scope and responsibility.
This role will be reporting to the Reporting and Forecasting Lead. You'll join our Statutory Reporting team, providing support across financial reporting, forecasting, and analytics for our Group and subsidiary entities. In this role, you'll assist with preparing statutory financial statements, management reports, cash flow analysis, and budget forecasting—driving key outcomes through solid financial insights and process improvements.

Day-to-day, you will:
Assist in the preparation of Group and subsidiary entities' financial statements, including playing a supporting role in the preparation of the Group's financial results
Prepare half-year and year-end deliverables, including statutory reporting inputs that are included in the Investor Presentation and board/committee papers
Support the preparation of distribution analysis and financial forecasting activities, including variance commentary and budget/forecast support
Develop a greater level of technical accounting knowledge across the broader Transurban Accounting Group
Provide support during the audit process, providing key information to resolve queries
Be involved in ad-hoc project work that impacts the wider team in areas such as system integration and process improvement
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:
Relevant accounting experience and could be making your first move from Chartered firms (Big 4 or Mid-tier, audit background) or transitioning from an existing career already in industry. Either way, you would have ideally had experience within a complex and corporate environment
Professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, or international equivalent), or close to completionAnalytical mindset along with strong financial reporting knowledge and skills that aid your ability to identify and analyse key business drivers
Comfortable with change, open-minded and able to adapt to new situations with ease
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that assist you in engaging and creating strong working relationships across the business
Strong time management skills, with the ability to work to challenging timelines, prioritise effectively, and remain resilient in a fast-paced environment
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with pivot tables, formulas and data analysis – you're comfortable using Excel to support financial analysis and reporting
Preferred:
Tech savvy and curious about emerging tools and technologies; experience or interest in AI tools and their application to financial processes and reporting (such as AI-assisted analysis, process automation, or workflow improvement) is a plus
