Description

We are seeking a Localization Manager for Japan to join monday.com’s Localization team. Based in Tokyo, you will own all aspects of localization for the Japanese market — across product, marketing, and customer-facing assets.

This is a strategic role that ensures monday.com delivers an excellent and culturally relevant experience for Japanese users throughout the entire customer journey — from first brand awareness through product adoption and expansion.

You will act as the voice of Japan within monday.com, driving localization quality, enabling regional growth, and building scalable processes that serve both local needs and global efficiency.

About The Role

Product & Marketing Localization

  • Own the localization of monday.com’s product, features, and marketing assets into Japanese.
  • Ensure translations are accurate, culturally relevant, and aligned with terminology and style guides.
  • Conduct QA and user validation to guarantee a seamless experience across all touchpoints.

Product Research & Market Adaptation

  • Partner with Product and UX teams to research Japanese user needs, behaviors, and expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to adapt features, terminology, and user flows to improve usability and adoption in Japan.
  • Advocate for product improvements that enhance the overall local user experience.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Collaborate with Product, R&D, Brand, Regional Marketing, SEO, PR, Sales, and Customer Success.
  • Manage local vendors and freelancers, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Process & Enablement

  • Use CAT tools, TMS, and QA frameworks (Smartling + HumanAI) to drive efficiency and scalability.
  • Identify process improvements, define SLAs, and share best practices across the global localization team.

Requirements
  • Native Japanese speaker with excellent written communication skills.
  • Business-level English for daily collaboration with international teams.
  • 4+ years of experience in localization, content, or product/marketing management, preferably in the tech/SaaS industry.
  • Proven experience localizing both product and marketing assets.
  • Strong understanding of Japanese market culture, buyer behavior, and UX expectations.
  • Exceptional project management, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Skilled in using CAT tools, TMS, QA frameworks, and translation processes.
  • Ability to work independently, across time zones, and in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in B2B SaaS.
  • Familiarity with Smartling or similar CAT/TMS platforms.
  • Strong analytical mindset, able to connect localization to business impact.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
