Job Description

At KordaMentha, we foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. We’re looking for a proactive, agile, and commercially minded lawyer to support the Governance and Corporation Operations team.  Working closely with the General Counsel, you will provide practical, solution-focused legal support on contracts, business operations, regulatory compliance, governance initiatives, transactions and strategic projects. The role offers variety and the opportunity to build a well-rounded in-house legal skillset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements.
  • Providing timely legal advice to internal stakeholders on day to day operational, contractual, compliance, risk and governance matters.
  • Assisting with governance, risk and compliance activities, including policy drafting and reviews, regulatory change management, board reporting, regulatory reporting and records management.
  • Contributing to legal support across specialist areas, which include financial services, funds management, property, construction and leasing, intellectual property and employment.
  • Assisting with continuous improvement of legal templates, workflows, policies and processes to support efficient delivery of legal services across the business.  
  • Coordinating external counsel and manage the provision of legal services to the firm.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will possess 2-4 years' experience and hold an unsupervised practising certificate.
  • Experience in commercial law and corporate advisory is required.
  • Experience or a demonstrated interest in other areas of law, such as regulatory compliance, financial services, funds management, property and employment.
  • Strong legal drafting, research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and enthusiasm to be hands on in the role.
