Company Description

At Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen, our mission has always been to reinvent fast-food. We’re Australia’s only fast-food restaurant to be 100% clean, meaning there are no added preservatives, artificial flavours, added colours or unacceptable additives in our food. We’re incredibly proud of our amazing people, and the unique way we celebrate Mexican culture in everything we do.

Job Description

GYG is one of Australia's fastest-growing restaurant brands, 90+ corporate restaurants today, more opening every quarter. That growth creates real complexity: more entities, more transactions, more systems to keep honest. We're after an Accountant who wants to be in the middle of that, not watching it from the sidelines.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll own month-end reporting, restaurant cash reconciliation, and process improvement across the network. You'll work daily with Trintech Cadency and NetSuite, partner directly with Operations and Finance stakeholders, and help set up the accounting for every new restaurant we open.

What you'll do

  • Lead month-end P&L and balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany, vendor and bank recs and resolve discrepancies quickly
  • Prepare and present financial reporting for senior management, the board, and statutory bodies (ASX, ASIC, ATO)
  • Deliver month-end P&L commentary that actually explains the variances, not just reports them
  • Support the annual audit end-to-end, from documentation to auditor queries
  • Own weekly restaurant cash reconciliation across the network, investigating variances, tightening cash controls, and reporting insights back to Operations
  • Manage the end-to-end cash cycle: bank deposits, settlement files, delivery commissions, and payment platform reconciliation
  • Set up financial systems, processes and controls for every new corporate restaurant opening

What you'll bring

  • CPA/CA qualified or finishing up, plus 3+ years' relevant experience
  • Experience implementing cash management processes
  • NetSuite and/or Trintech Cadency exposure (a plus, not a dealbreaker)
  • QSR, hospitality or F&B background (a plus)
  • Strong Excel skills, high attention to detail, and comfort owning deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A "Be Real" streak, we want people who'll flag a problem honestly rather than let it slide

Annual salary:  $90.000

Benefits

We’re incredibly proud of our amazing people and always have each other’s backs. Whether you’re working in restaurant, at our Hola Central head office or as one of our partners, we are so passionate about living our values every single day.

These are just some of the benefits that come with working at GYG:

  • Career growth – Australia and internationally
  • Opportunity to become a franchisee
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Paid parental leave
  • GYG gift voucher

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
