About the Role

The role of the Financial Accountant is to ensure that financial transactions and data are completely and accurately recorded in the financial system so that financial reports and returns can be generated for both internal and external requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Preparation of complete and accurate financial reporting

  • Accurate and timely input of all financial transactions into the accounting system
  • Complete month-end reconciliations, including preparation of workpapers and analysis for key balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Prepare complete and accurate month-end journals, including recurring and non-recurring general journals
  • Manage the accruals and prepayment schedules, maintain the Chart of Accounts, prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and complete other month-end journals and tasks as required by the Finance Manager

IFRS16 (Leases)

  • Run the IFRS16 process through the Oracle portal and validate the reports
  • Regularly update contracts in the IFRS16 portal
  • Prepare the necessary journal entries
  • Perform reconciliations between the Oracle portal and General Ledger
  • Prepare roll-forward audit schedules for IFRS16

Preparation of financial returns

  • Monthly Business Activity Statements
  • Annual FBT workpapers preparation
  • Monthly FBT accruals

Fixed assets

  • Manage additions and disposals of assets
  • Process monthly depreciation
  • Perform reconciliations between the General Ledger and Fixed Asset Register
  • Perform reconciliations of WIP accounts
  • Prepare and manage the tax asset register
  • Prepare roll-forward audit schedules

Miscellaneous responsibilities

  • Maintain master data within the financial system, including new clinic additions
  • Assist with the insurance renewal process
  • Oversee the Accounts Receivable team
  • Assist with non-financial reporting
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal and external auditors and tax consultants
  • Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls

About You:

Education

  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Strong understanding of current IFRS accounting standards and principles, particularly IFRS 16, IFRS 15 and IFRS 9

Work experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar financial accounting role

Desirable

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion or a similar accounting system
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
  • Relevant experience within a similar industry

Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including VLOOKUPs, PivotTables and other advanced functions
  • Strong organisational and administrative capabilities
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Highly numerate with strong attention to detail
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical ability
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal
