We are seeking a talented Trade Control Specialist to join the Boeing Australia Global Trade Controls team in Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide.
Global Trade Controls is a strategic business partner that enables Boeing's growth by providing guidance on complex export, import and sanctions requirements. Our team collaborates with program and business stakeholders to solve problems, offer innovative solutions, and shape regulatory policies that support Boeing's long-term objectives while fostering a strong culture of compliance and risk mitigation across the enterprise.

About the Role:
  • Interpret various jurisdictions (in particular Australian, U.S., EU and New Zealand) export and import controls, sanctions and related regulations and provide guidance on the application of, and adherence to, requirements.
  • Implement internal controls for trade control compliance, direct trade control activity, and provide guidance regarding incorporating trade control requirements into business and program(s) processes and procedures;
  • Prepare and submit Defence Export Control (DEC) permit applications and manage regulatory authority interactions;
  • Maintain accurate trade control authorisation records and training material;
  • Advise program(s) on export classifications, transfer controls, technical data handling, and compliance strategies and mitigations;
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders (security, supply chain, engineering, program management);
  • Participate in internal governance, training delivery, and continuous-improvement initiatives to strengthen Trade Controls processes;
  • Act as a liaison between Boeing and customers and suppliers for trade control-related matters;
  • Analyse applicability of trade control requirements relating to both Direct Commercial Sale (DCS) and Foreign Military Sale (FMS) procurement methods;
  • Assist with planning of export licensing requirements for contracted activities and potential future activities.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Practical experience with export controls, sanctions, or related regulatory frameworks;
  • Experience with Australian Defence Trade Controls, US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and US Export Administration Regulations (EAR);
  • Experience interpreting requirements of Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) with regards to the provision of defence services and management of technical data;
  • Experience drafting Defence Export Control (DEC) permit applications and managing regulatory authority interactions;
  • Effective communication skills and experience engaging cross-functional stakeholders;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical advice;
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Law or related disciplines;
  • Prior experience supporting defence or aerospace programs / platforms;
  • Familiarity with Direct Commercial Sale (DCS) and Foreign Military Sale (FMS) procurement paths.
