Build and own Maincode’s enterprise and public-sector commercial business as its first B2B commercial hire. Generate and close complex AI software, custom services, cloud, air-gapped deployment, and data-center infrastructure deals. Secure long-term compute commitments, manage technical sales cycles, develop pricing and proposals, negotiate legal agreements, and relay customer requirements to engineering and product teams. The role requires extensive executive, government, defense, and AI ecosystem relationships, technical AI fluency, and experience with sovereign data and public-sector procurement.

About Us

We are Maincode, Australia's Frontier Lab. As an applied AI and infrastructure company, we have developed Matilda, our proprietary AI ecosystem. We are also breaking ground on a new state of the art 12MW datacenter built specifically for high-performance AI training and compute, slated to come online 2027.

Our mission is to deliver secure, sovereign, and highly customized AI solutions to the organizations that need them most. We are building the definitive AI infrastructure hub in Australia. This includes airgapped deployments of Matilda and custom model training for enterprise and government, as well as serving as the primary compute partner for global AI leaders.

The Role

We are looking for our first B2B commercial hire. We need a highly technical dealmaker to build and own our enterprise and public sector book of business.

This is a senior individual contributor (IC) role built for an adaptable, full-stack commercial operator. You will handle every phase of the go-to-market lifecycle yourself. On any given day, you might pivot from pitching a government minister to redlining a sovereign data agreement, or sitting with our engineers to scope a custom model training run.

You will be dealmaking across our entire product stack. You will manage a dual sales motion: driving immediate pipeline for Maincode's full suite of AI software and custom services today, and securing long-term anchor tenants for our upcoming 12MW datacenter. You will not be managing a sales team. Instead, you will act as a consultative partner to CIOs, defense officials, and global AI leaders, leveraging your Rolodex to build our early revenue engine.

What You Will Do
  • Sell the Full Stack: Personally generate and close deals across our entire ecosystem. Leverage your network across Australian government, defense, and Tier-1 enterprises to secure lighthouse customers for cloud deployments, fully airgapped environments, and custom model training engagements.

  • Pre-Sell Infrastructure: Target and negotiate with global frontier AI labs and scale-ups to secure multi-year compute commitments ahead of our 12MW datacenter launch next year.

  • Execute End-to-End: Operate entirely self-sufficiently. You will source your own leads, build the pitch materials, model the pricing, and drive the legal negotiations from initial discovery to the final signature.

  • Run Complex Deal Cycles: Lead highly technical, multi-stakeholder sales cycles. Navigate sovereign data agreements, custom training scopes, diverse infrastructure environments, and compliance-heavy deployments.

  • Bridge Market and Product: Act as the voice of the enterprise. Funnel feedback directly to our engineering and product teams to ensure our diverse deployment options meet the strict regulatory and security needs of our buyers.

Who You Are
  • A Player, Not a Coach: You are an individual contributor who wants to close. You do not want to manage a sales organization; you want to run a highly lucrative, strategic book of business.

  • Deep Network: You have an active Rolodex of C-level executives, CIOs, and senior government and defense officials who will pick up the phone when you call.

  • Technical Translator: You do not need to write code, but you must deeply understand AI architecture. You know the difference between training and inference, the implications of various deployment models (from public cloud to airgapped), and the compute requirements of frontier labs.

  • Comfortable Selling Futures: You have experience selling strategic, large-scale projects before they are fully built. You can build trust and structure complex pre-commitments for infrastructure.

  • Autonomous Builder: You do not need a pre-written playbook, a massive marketing budget, or a lead-generation team. You thrive in ambiguity and are highly capable of building the plane while flying it.

  • Experienced Operator: You have 10+ years of experience in enterprise tech sales, strategic partnerships, or business development. You understand public sector procurement, security clearances, and data sovereignty compliance.

Bonus Points
  • Active baseline or NV1/NV2 security clearance.

  • Prior experience in data center pre-leasing, bare-metal compute, or high-performance computing (HPC) sales.

  • Existing relationships within the global AI research ecosystem.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
