About the role:

As the Senior Project Manager (PMO Lead) – Ford Pro, you will set up and lead the Project Management Office for the Ford Pro ecosystem in Australia, covering a multitude of workstreams run by teams across Ford in Australia and overseas. This is a PMO role at programme level, not delivery of a single project.

This is a pivotal opportunity for a commercially astute, technically curious, and customer-obsessed project leader who thrives on managing delivery complexity while elevating Ford Pro’s overarching project delivery maturity.

Reporting directly to the Ford Pro Director, this role operates on a hybrid work model, requiring four days on-site at our National Sales Company in Richmond, Melbourne.

Responsibilities
  • Establish the PMO, including its charter, governance model, meeting cadence, decision rights and escalation paths.
  • Set consistent programme standards for milestones, RAG status and RAID management.

  • Introduce practical tools and maintain a single, integrated master plan across workstreams.

  • Lead workstream check-ins, programme reviews and steering committee meetings.

  • Maintain RAID and decision logs, oversee change control and conduct health checks to ensure progress reporting is accurate.

  • Prepare clear, decision-focused updates that surface emerging issues early and help leaders provide timely decisions and support.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years in project and programme management, including setting up or leading a PMO for a complex programme with many workstreams
  • A track record of designing and rolling out governance and reporting frameworks, not just following existing ones
  • Excellent communication skills, including turning complex detail into clear updates that help senior leaders make decisions
  • Strong skills in RAID management (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) and in building plans that link many workstreams together
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and motivated to create structure where little exists.
  • High digital literacy, with experience using data dashboards and emerging AI/automation tools to streamline project visibility.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
