As a Software Tester at Insitu Pacific, you will ensure that the software used for uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ground control systems meets exacting standards of quality, reliability, and safety. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will apply established testing methods to verify and validate software features and support the delivery of robust solutions for defence and commercial customers.
Responsibilities
- Help develop, review, and execute test cases and scripts based on software requirements and specifications.
- Conduct functional, integration, regression, and system testing of UAVs and ground control software.
- Identify, document, and report defects; work with the development team to clarify and resolve issues.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining test environments, including Hardware in the Loop and Simulation labs.
- Participate in requirements reviews and provide input on testability and acceptance criteria.
- Maintain test documentation such as plans, cases, results, and defect reports.
- Support configuration management and version control practices.
- Contribute to process improvement by providing feedback on software testing tools and procedures.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in information technology, software, or a related field.
- 2+ years' experience in a technical or engineering role within commercial, defence, or related systems.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments.
- Comfortable working in mixed software/hardware environments.
- Experience using defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
- Strong attention to detail and systematic problem-solving ability.
- Good communication skills; able to contribute in team environments and follow established procedures.
Desirable:
- Experience working with, operating, or testing UAVs and related systems.
- Basic coding experience in C++ and/or C# .NET for investigating potential software defects, understanding code behaviour, and performing basic software development tasks.
- Experience testing graphical user interfaces, embedded software, or control systems.
- Exposure to requirements management tools and traceability.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence).
- Knowledge of basic cybersecurity and secure testing practices.
- Exposure to defence, avionics, or real-time system testing.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
- Able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
- You may require a Foreign Work Authorisation (FWA) in order to perform this role. This is not a requirement set or determined by Boeing but by the Department of Defence under laws issued in 2024. Please refer to the Department of Defence website to understand these requirements.
