A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Senior Regulatory Advisor reporting to the General Manager Regulatory Economics

A bit about your role

This Senior Regulatory Advisor role supports nbn’s Regulatory team in shaping and navigating the commercial and regulatory environment to help deliver Australia’s digital future. Working with a high degree of autonomy, the role partners across the business to provide practical regulatory and economic advice, manage key regulatory initiatives, and support compliance and regulatory outcomes. A key focus is economic regulation under nbn’s Special Access Undertaking (SAU) via the 3 yearly revenue proposals, including work related to demonstrating the prudency and efficiency of nbn’s expenditure. The role also contributes to stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and continuous improvement, while mentoring colleagues and fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and solutions-focused approach. Successful candidates are curious, adaptable, organised professionals who enjoy solving complex problems, building relationships, and contributing to positive business outcomes.

A bit about you

The ideal candidate brings qualifications in Economics, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline, with a strong understanding of economic regulation, infrastructure regulation, and the broader regulatory environment. They combine analytical thinking and commercial awareness to provide practical advice, solve complex business challenges, and contribute to effective regulatory outcomes. Success in the role requires the ability to interpret financial, pricing and cost information, identify regulatory risks and opportunities, manage competing priorities, and work collaboratively across diverse teams. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear insights, prepare high-quality submissions, and contribute to strategic initiatives in a dynamic and evolving environment.

You may find that your experience does not match every requirement listed but, if this role has piqued your interest or resonates with where you are in your career, we encourage you to apply rather than self-select out. What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
