Our Team

From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS / OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence. 

This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency, while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australia’s sky, and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.

The Role

Working from our Melbourne Office in the World Trade Centre on Wurundjeri land, we have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Planner / Senior Scheduler to join our team on the OneSky program, one of Australia’s most critical defence projects. The successful candidate will manage and lead planning and scheduling activities to maintain control of program timelines, costs, and deliverables.

You will collaborate with Planners, Bid Managers, Project Managers, and Control Account Managers to develop and maintain schedules aligned with the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB). Your role is key in identifying schedule risks, analysing variances, and supporting earned value management to help the program deliver on time and budget.

  • Use Primavera to develop, maintain, and update the program schedule, ensuring it reflects the latest progress, dependencies, and milestones.

  • Utilise Deltek Cobra to monitor cost performance, earned value, and budget adherence.

  • Apply principles of project controls to track cost, schedule, and performance, providing actionable insights to leadership.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate scheduling risks, ensuring proactive resolution of potential delays or cost overruns.

  • Work with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and entities to trace progress, manage dependencies, and report on cost/schedule adherence.

  • Balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the program remains on track.

Your Experience

  • Proven experience in complex program/project environments with integrated master schedules of large scale preferably in defence, IT solutions, or complex programs.

  • Expertise in Primavera (scheduling) and Deltek Cobra (cost/value management).

  • Demonstrated application and strong understanding of project controls, risk management, and earned value analysis.

  • Experience working successfully with multiple stakeholders, suppliers, and entities, in a high-security or defence environment highly regarded

  • Demonstrated understanding of agile or hybrid project management methodologies.

  • Ability to prioritise workloads, changing priorities, adapt to evolving program needs, and deliver under pressure.

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Experience in defence programs (not mandatory but highly preferred).

Australian Defence Roles & Security

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
