About the Role

We have an exciting Senior Manager opportunity to join our Melbourne Audit team. BDO’s Audit practice is a major player within the local marketplace, auditing many of Australia’s leading public and private sector organisations across a diverse industry base. 

Our thriving audit practice works with and provides services to some of the most exciting, established and emerging companies. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a diverse client portfolio, lead and couch staff, and contribute to the strategic direction of our service line.

You'll take ownership of your work, collaborate closely with Partners, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance our client service and broaden the support we provide.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing audit engagements start to finish including initial planning and risk assessment, assessment of processes and controls, substantive testing and reporting to those charged with governance.

  • Critically assessing and enhancing audit documentation for complex engagements, including the use of data analytics and AI. 

  • Timely sign-off on all reporting and demonstrate ability to write complex client documents, including technical accounting matters. 

  • Ensuring engagement compliance with audit, accounting, ethical standards, legislation and BDO policies. 

  • Monitoring engagement progress against budget and timeline with reporting directly to the Engagement Partner. 

  • Ensuring compliance with BDO independence, client acceptance, and continuance policies, and attend to risk management and quality control procedures. 

  • Elevating BDO's profile through marketing channels like seminars, webinars, newsletters, and social media. 

  • Developing and maintaining long-term client relationship and identifying business development opportunities.

  • Coaching and developing team members to achieve technical competencies and efficient performance.

Competitive Salary based on level of experience starting from: $145,000 including Super.

About You

  • CA qualified (or equivalent) 

  • Significant experience of delivering audit and other assurance services to clients in a range of sectors, including ASX listed companies

  • In-depth understanding of Australian Auditing Standards and statutory reporting requirements 

  • Proven experience in managing a wide portfolio of concurrent projects and project teams in a project management framework

  • Experience in group reporting both from a group and component team perspective.

  • Experienced in managing and developing staff i.e. coordinating staff projects, mentoring, counselling, appraising, recruiting etc.

  • Business development experience - able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work.
