Gogo is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have strong technical acumen, with a proven track record of designing, deploying, and maintaining complex, high-availability infrastructure systems. This position requires initiative, creativity, and excellent problem-solving skills.

This is an extremely exciting time at Gogo, where our newest products are enabling us to provide real-time world class connectivity and customization unlike anything else in business aviation. This is a key role for our organizational health as we continually push the limits of what is possible in aviation – both on the ground and in the air.

How will you make a difference?

  • Securely design, deploy, and manage on-premises, hybrid, and cloud services and infrastructure, with a focus on Microsoft Azure environments
  • Ensure the high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity of critical infrastructure services
  • Manage and maintain network security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, dynamic routing protocols, and complex network segmentation
  • Lead efforts in server and OS management, including patch management and server hardening to meet stringent compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)
  • Automate infrastructure deployment and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Serve as a final escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and outages, leading root cause analysis efforts
  • Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including SOPs, architectural diagrams, and compliance artifacts
  • Contribute to the department's technical strategy and act as a technical lead for the procurement and implementation of new hardware and software
  • Analyze and mitigate security vulnerabilities across the infrastructure
  • Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-8 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with a preference for experience in telecommunications, aviation, or other highly regulated industries

Required Skills, Talents, and Experience

  • Networking & Security: 8 years of experience with enterprise-grade networking equipment (e.g., Ubiquiti, Cisco, Juniper). Expertise in Access Control Lists (ACLs), Next-Gen firewalls, IDS/IPS rules, dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and complex network segmentation (DMZ/VLANs)
  • Server & OS Management: Extensive experience with Windows Server (2016-2022) and various Linux distributions (RHEL, Debian, etc.). Proven experience in patch management and server hardening to meet government or industry compliance standards
  • Automation & IaC: 3 years of hands-on experience with tools like Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation
  • Cloud & Virtualization: 3+ years of experience with VMware and on-premises infrastructure. At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including networking, VMs, and Active Directory. Experience designing and deploying large-scale on-premises and cloud environments
  • Strategic & Leadership: Experience as a technical lead, responsible for setting technical direction, creating roadmaps, and making procurement recommendations
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proven ability to act as the final escalation point for complex issues and major outages. Proficient in root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving in high-pressure situations

Preferred Skills, Talents, and Experience

  • Experience in the aviation or telecommunications industry
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with satellite communication (SatCom) systems and principles
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Proficiency with advanced monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
  • Experience with endpoint security response and mitigation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Equal Pay Disclosure(s)

Base Pay:

133,600.00 - 167,000.00 USD Annual

Target Annual Short-Term Incentive:

Bonus Plan at 10% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
