Senior Equities Analyst – System Capital (Melbourne)
An opportunity has arisen within System Capital for a Senior Equities Analyst to join our Melbourne-based investment team.
System Capital is a bottom‑up, absolute‑return equities investment manager with a research philosophy centred on understanding the full dynamics of a business ecosystem.
Founded in 2022 by Lev Margolin, former Portfolio Manager at L1 Capital, System Capital brings together over 20 years of investment experience and a strong track record of delivering risk‑adjusted returns.
We are looking for a Senior Equities Analyst who will work closely with the Portfolio Manager, lead high‑conviction research, shape investment debates, and contribute meaningfully to the ongoing build-out of a growing investment business.
What you’ll do
- Lead deep fundamental research, including industry mapping, company due diligence, financial modelling, and behavioural/structural analysis.
- Generate independent investment insights, form differentiated views, and present actionable recommendations to the Portfolio Manager.
- Influence portfolio construction by contributing to stock selection, position sizing discussions, and risk assessment.
- Enhance and refine research processes, including the development of analytical tools, data workflows, or frameworks that elevate the team’s capability.
- Engage directly with company management teams, industry experts, and external research providers.
What we’re looking for
- 5–15+ years’ experience in equities research or financial analysis (buy‑side, sell‑side, private equity, M&A, or strategy/consulting).
- Advanced analytical capabilities and expert-level financial modelling skills.
- A demonstrated and sustained passion for equity markets, business analysis, and long‑term investing.
- Strong academic foundation in finance, economics, or related STEM fields.
- Highly self‑directed, curious, and comfortable working in a high‑accountability environment.
- Someone who thrives in a small, entrepreneurial, high‑performance investment team and is committed to excellence.
If you’re ready to step into a senior analytical role with meaningful influence and long-term career upside, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply directly to the role for further discussion.
