  • Act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, including the Managing Partner, COO and Executive team, exercising judgement, discretion and confidence in high-impact scenarios.

  • Plan, prepare and manage stakeholder communications strategies and tactics for a range of audiences and platforms, including through traditional media, social media, speaking engagements and forums and internal channels.

  • Engage with the media on behalf of the firm, as required.

  • Coach and prepare Allens talent for media interactions, panel events and other external appearances.

  • Nurture and grow mutually beneficial relationships with media and other external stakeholders.

  • Take senior ownership of core corporate affairs processes.

  • Provide issues and incident-response communications leadership, including rapid response, stakeholder coordination and media handling during issue or incident-driven scenarios.

  • Lead and coordinate ESG and transparency reporting, providing sustained senior oversight, strong cross-functional leadership and awareness of external trends and stakeholder expectations.

  • Work alongside members of the broader team to drive proactive profiling for the firm and its practices across owned and earned channels.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. At Allens we have a hybrid working structure, typically 60% in the office and 40% from home. We would be happy to discuss any other flexible working arrangements that best support you.

You will have:

  • Significant senior-level experience in corporate affairs, communications, media relations or reputation management.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a well-honed risk radar.

  • A passion for brand building and an eye for opportunities to enhance brand value.

  • Deep expertise in media relations and issues management, including leading external engagement in sensitive or high-risk scenarios.

  • Proven experience managing communications for incident and rapid-response issues.

  • Strong understanding of ESG and transparency reporting, with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to shape clear, credible and consistent messaging.

  • The confidence to operate independently in high-risk environments where judgement and experience are critical.

  • A desire to learn, grow, network and mentor others.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
