OUR TEAM

As part of a significant investment in strengthening our security capability, Thales Australia is establishing a new team of Protective Security Officers (PSOs) across our key sites reporting directly to our National Security Managers. These are newly created, in-house roles, with successful applicants joining Thales directly as employees and becoming a critical part of our protective security workforce.

As a Protective Security Officer, you will form part of the first line of defence for some of Australia's most important Defence, aerospace and critical infrastructure facilities. You will play a vital role in protecting our people, assets, information and operations through a combination of security operations, customer engagement, incident response and site assurance activities.

This is a highly visible role requiring professionalism, sound judgement, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to respond effectively in dynamic operational environments.

YOUR ROLE

Role located in Melbourne CBD, with working hours between 8:00am and 17:30pm

  • Maintain a visible security presence through patrols, site checks and security assurance activities

  • Respond to incidents, alarms and emergencies quickly and professionally

  • Manage site access, visitor coordination and contractor approvals

  • Support security compliance, reporting and risk management activities

  • Build strong relationships with employees, visitors and stakeholders while promoting a positive security culture

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in security, Defence, law enforcement, emergency services or a similar operational environment

  • Strong knowledge of security, risk management and site safety practices

  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships

  • Able to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments

  • Experience in incident response, access control and visitor management is highly regarded

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a relevant State or Territory Security Licence applicable to the role

AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITY

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/. In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
