About the Project
The Southern Program Alliance is contracted by Victorian Government to remove most dangerous and congested level crossings. This is a critical infrastructure project with significant public impact.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Construction Manager, The Project Engineer provides technical oversight and management, translating engineering goals into actionable plans ensuring project objectives are met by supporting design, managing contractors, and liaising with stakeholders. They also solve on-site technical problems, document project progress, and ensure compliance with standards and legislation.
Responsibilities
- Issue and monitor compliance to Permit to Work for the defined high risk activity.
- Ensure Safety in Design is applied and mitigate the risk from design through to construction.
- Conduct weekly site inspections and record observations for close out.
- Support Temporary Work Designs requirements in consultation with the Engineer Manager.
- Develop a scope of works in a logical work breakdown structure to be able to plan lower-level activities requiring monitoring.
- Submit planning and coordination requirements with 6 week lookahead incorporating resource requirements.
- Contribute to the development scope of works documentation to Procur-e contractor. selection in accordance with tender process management.
- Use contract clauses and conditions to progress claims, EOT, liquidated damages, variations, and close outs.
- Use basic commercial rights under the contract to identify and raise issues quickly and avoid time bars.
- Track costs for labor and plant, verify quantities of work completed for subcontractor claims and verify receipt of goods/deliveries.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Tertiary qualified in Civil Engineering or civil
- Minimum 4 years` experience as a project-based engineer in the construction engineering industry, in disciplines such as rail and associated civil infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experienced in a similar role
- Current Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle
