Role Summary:
As a Junior Network Engineer, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of both on-premises and cloud-based network infrastructure. Working closely with senior engineers, you’ll gain practical experience in areas such as firewalls, routing and switching, virtualisation, and load balancing. This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience who is eager to learn and grow in a dynamic and technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation
- Assist in configuring and deploying network solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Support the use of VMware NSX and HCX for network virtualisation and application migration.
- Contribute to the deployment and management of Azure VMware Solution.
Firewall Management
- Support the configuration and maintenance of Fortinet Firewalls.
- Assist with administration of Azure Firewalls to help secure cloud infrastructure.
Routing & Switching
- Help configure routing and switching protocols under guidance.
- Assist in troubleshooting connectivity issues to ensure high network availability.
Load Balancing
- Participate in the deployment and monitoring of F5 Load Balancers.
- Support traffic distribution through cloud-native load balancing solutions.
Monitoring & Maintenance
- Monitor network performance using standard tools and report anomalies.
- Help conduct routine maintenance tasks to ensure security and reliability.
- Document network issues and resolutions clearly within ticketing systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in a network engineering or IT support role.
- Foundational knowledge of networking protocols and principles (routing, switching, firewalls).
- Exposure to virtualisation tools such as VMware NSX, HCX, or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, especially within Microsoft Azure environments.
- Basic understanding of firewall technologies (e.g., Fortinet, Azure Firewall).
- Introductory experience with load balancers (F5 or cloud-native).
- Interest in scripting or network automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced technical environment.
Additional Requirements:
Security Clearance Requirement: Given the secure nature of this role, we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance.
This requirement ensures that all team members are cleared to handle sensitive information and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of security in our operations.
On-call and Shift Expectations: Our positions are primarily focused on managed services, meaning you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our clients' IT systems (Applications and Infrastructure). Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you may be required to work in shifts to provide continuous support. Additionally, you may need to be on call to address incidents promptly and perform after-hours deployment activities as needed. Your ability to effectively manage these responsibilities will be crucial to ensuring the seamless operation of our services and client satisfaction
