We're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to take ownership of financial reporting, compliance, and controls for Nayax Oceania. This is a hands-on role for an experienced accountant who wants genuine ownership of the numbers, exposure to a global listed group, and the chance to help scale the finance function as the region grows. You'll work closely with the local Finance Team and the global finance team in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Working with AP & AR Team monthly, quarterly and annually closing process and ensure accuracy of financial records including account payable team, accruals, billing team, revenue recognition, payroll journal entries, fixed assets and intangible assets reconciliation.
- Own the end-to-end month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for AU and NZ entities.
- Prepare statutory financial statements and support all local regulatory, tax, and group reporting requirements.
- Maintain balance sheet integrity through robust reconciliations, review, and timely resolution of variances.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and manage the annual statutory audit end to end.
- Ensure compliance with AASB/IFRS accounting standards, GST, FBT, income tax, and other local regulatory obligations.
- Participate in SOX procedures and ensure testing results are properly managed and documented
- Maintain and strengthen the internal control framework, identifying and closing control gaps.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex or judgemental transactions (e.g. revenue recognition, leases, intercompany).
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting, including variance analysis and commentary for stakeholders.
- Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and transfer pricing documentation with the global finance team.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and system enhancements across the finance function.
- Partner with commercial, operations, and global finance teams to support business decisions with sound financial insight.
- Mentor and support junior members of the finance team.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
- 5+ years' financial accounting experience, Big 4 or mid-tier audit background will get advantage plus time in a commercial or corporate environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge under AASB/IFRS, with confidence handling complex or first-time transactions.
- Experience in a multinational, multi-entity, or listed company environment highly regarded.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with a modern ERP system (e.g. NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- A strong control mindset and high attention to detail, balanced with the ability to work at pace.
- Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging across all levels of the business.
- Experience in payments, fintech, retail, or technology industries is a plus, but not essential.
