Job Description

Finance Business Partner – 12 months fixed term contract

Cushman & Wakefield is a global leader in real estate services, driven by a simple purpose: putting our clients and our people at the centre of what’s next. We combine market insight, agility, and a collaborative culture to deliver solutions others can’t see.

About the Role

As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll play a critical role in reporting, planning, budgeting, and supporting operational leaders to deliver financial and non‑financial outcomes. You’ll translate data into meaningful insights, ensure financial controls are met, and contribute to continuous improvement across the account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly Reporting – Deliver timely monthly finance requirements, monitor performance against KPI targets, translate data into insights, review P&L, manage accruals, prepayments, variance commentary, and ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting – Lead annual budgets and periodic forecasts, define assumptions, support business streams, complete bottom‑up cost builds, identify risks, and present outputs to operational teams.

  • Risk & Controls – Own client finance controls and C&W SOX compliance, working with internal teams and auditors.

  • Contract Financial Management – Manage contract profitability, support annual operating plans, and partner with account leadership.

  • Projects & Improvements – Drive ad‑hoc projects, review systems and processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Relationship Management – Build strong rapport with internal stakeholders, support operational teams, deliver high‑quality service, and proactively address issues to minimise escalations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills.

  • Advanced analytical capability and ability to present financial concepts to non‑finance audiences.

  • Experience working autonomously within a specialised team.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.

  • Strong working knowledge of AASB16 lease accounting.

  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Qualified Accountant (CPA, CIMA, CFA, CA preferred).

  • Advanced Excel and PowerBI skills; Anaplan and JDE experience advantageous.

Core Capabilities

  • Strategic thinking and commercial awareness.

  • Ability to deliver extraordinary results and lead through change.

  • Strong customer service focus and collaborative mindset.

  • High attention to detail, planning, organisation, and time management.

  • Effective communication and business writing skills.

  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capability.

  • Systems and data management proficiency.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
