What you’ll do

The AWS DevOps Team Lead is responsible for driving the evolution of the Application CI/CD and Environment Provisioning capabilities in large-scale organizations. The role requires a deep understanding of the software delivery lifecycle, DevOps principles and processes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and a strategic mindset. The successful candidate will define and implement best practices, mentor the DevOps team, and collaborate with development and operations teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and efficient CI/CD pipelines. Your expertise will be pivotal in integrating application security scanning, code quality, functional and performance testing stages into the DevOps pipeline, and developing standards and code patterns tailored for large-scale organizations.

This role requires candidates to have Australian citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and build CI/CD pipelines: Architecting and designing enterprise-grade DevOps solutions, contributing to the development of self-service workflows, the automation of governance controls for multiple application types and technologies, and the implementation of IaC for efficient infrastructure management.

  • Establish CI/CD standards and best practices: Create and enforce standardized CI/CD patterns, frameworks, and processes, including IaC practices, to ensure consistency and efficiency.

  • Mentor and develop the DevOps team: Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the DevOps team in both CI/CD and IaC disciplines.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to understand their needs and translate them into effective CI/CD and IaC solutions.

  • Promote DevOps culture: Foster a DevOps culture of collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement to drive software delivery efficiency and quality, integrating IaC into the broader DevOps strategy.

  • Measure and optimize CI/CD performance: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure CI/CD efficiency and effectiveness, including the impact of IaC practices.

Here’s what you need:

  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing complex CI/CD pipelines for various application types (e.g., web, mobile, microservices) and infrastructure using IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).

  • Expertise in building standards and code patterns applicable across large-scale organizations, with a focus on IaC best practices.

  • Deep understanding of DevOps principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, jFrog Artifactory, SonarQube, Fortify, Selenium, Unit testing frameworks) and IaC practices.

  • Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation, including scripting for IaC implementations.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor DevOps teams, including teams working with IaC tools and practices.

  • Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems, especially in the context of integrating CI/CD pipelines with IaC.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS and / or Azure), particularly in implementing IaC solutions.

  • Certification in Azure DevOps and/or Terraform will be highly regarded.

  • Experience with agile development methodologies is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience with security tools is preferred, including securing IaC deployments.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
