What this opportunity involves:

Step into a pivotal role at the heart of Melbourne Connect Co-working, where you'll be the driving force behind an exceptional customer experience and a thriving innovation community. As Community Manager, you'll shape the day-to-day operations of this amenity-rich, 2,200-square-metre workspace located on the doorstep of the University of Melbourne in Carlton. Your mission is to deliver outstanding experiences that bring together world-class researchers, start-ups, industry leaders, corporates, and artists within a purpose-built innovation precinct. You'll oversee customer onboarding, curate engaging community events, manage the seamless operation of facilities and amenities, and contribute to the financial performance of this flexible workspace solution. Reporting to the Centre Manager and working alongside the Community Team, you'll be the welcoming face of Melbourne Connect Co-working, fostering connection, collaboration, and a sense of belonging in one of Australia's most dynamic innovation hubs.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by developing and managing a comprehensive customer experience program that consistently exceeds expectations and drives continual improvement.

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with customers by responding promptly to feedback, resolving challenges proactively, and ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to excellence.

  • Curate, schedule, and manage a dynamic program of community events designed to foster networking, collaboration, and a vibrant sense of community among members.

  • Conduct engaging tours for potential customers and stakeholders, showcasing the unique value and opportunities of Melbourne Connect Co-working.

  • Oversee the seamless operation of all workspace facilities, amenities, and equipment, working closely with facilities teams and service partners to maintain exceptionally high presentation standards.

  • Collaborate on the development and execution of operational strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and the smooth integration of the Centre into the broader Melbourne Connect precinct.

  • Manage vendor and supplier relationships, ensuring service delivery meets agreed KPIs and supports a positive customer experience.

  • Contribute to annual business planning, budget development, and monthly client reporting, taking primary responsibility for allocated account codes and ensuring financial compliance.

  • Champion health and safety best practices across the workspace, creating a safe and welcoming environment for all customers, visitors, and team members.

Sounds like you? This is what we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in a community management, customer service, or hospitality role within a co-working, flexible workspace, or similar environment.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage confidently with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated passion for customer service with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively, multitask, and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience using CRM and billing software packages.

  • Sound understanding of digital, social, and innovative technologies, with a willingness to embrace new tools and platforms.

  • Experience in developing and managing relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service partners.

  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and procedures.

  • Creative approach to event planning and community building, with a track record of delivering engaging programs.
