Lead Xero’s SRE team and reliability program across APAC and EMEA. Own HA/DR testing, incident command, reliability gap remediation, and improvements to detection, response, and prevention. Partner with platform, observability, database reliability, and shared services teams while reducing customer-detected incidents. Build and mentor a distributed engineering team, establish reliability practices, and maintain calm, effective incident response across time zones.

Owns customer incident management from investigation and impact assessment through resolution and post-incident review. Coordinates engineering, product, support, leadership, and regional teams during high-pressure incidents; leads customer communications; develops incident processes and registers; and recommends improvements to reduce recurrence and customer disruption.

Lead strategy and execution for Xero’s AI Shared Services platform, including eventing, communications, search, and related reusable capabilities. Define the domain roadmap, establish success metrics and dashboards, build stakeholder relationships, and drive adoption across product and engineering teams. The role requires managing interdependent platform products, applying technical fluency across distributed systems and cloud environments, making investment cases, navigating ambiguity and dependencies, and growing high-performing people and teams.

Lead the strategy, development, and scaling of shared platforms and operating models for AI-native delivery. Align stakeholders, establish roadmaps and governance, measure adoption and organizational impact, and move AI workflows from pilots into repeatable products. Partner with Engineering, Security, Data, and other teams while coaching teams in effective AI product practices and translating complex technical capabilities into investment decisions.

Provides phone, email, and chat support to small business owners, bookkeepers, and accountants using Xero. Resolves accounting-related customer queries, conducts proactive outreach, builds customer trust, and identifies when escalation is needed. The role also involves meeting service quality and turnaround targets, collaborating across teams, and helping improve support through accounting knowledge, Salesforce, generative AI, and new technology.

Drive revenue growth across small and medium-sized business accounts through high-volume outbound campaigns. Promote integrated payment and financial solutions, manage conversion pipelines, track sales metrics, and maintain Salesforce records. Use consultative communication to identify customer needs, explain product benefits, meet activity targets, and optimize outreach messaging in collaboration with Marketing, Data Science, and Customer Success teams.

Own the customer journey from initial contact through the first 90 days. Handle inbound leads, conduct discovery conversations and product demonstrations, guide customers through setup and adoption, and deliver individual or group onboarding sessions covering invoicing, bills, payments, and bank feeds. Manage a personal pipeline, drive subscription activation and conversion, and coordinate handoffs to ecosystem partners and customer success teams.

Build internal tooling and platform improvements for database reliability. Split time between software engineering and database operations: monitoring, observability, performance tuning, incident response, migration to RDS/Postgres, and automating fleet management to improve resilience and developer efficiency.

Develop and deploy machine learning products and services by translating complex business problems into applied research programs. Build robust data pipelines and reusable code in Python or Scala, develop and evaluate applications involving NLP, computer vision, and LLMs, and monitor algorithms at scale. The role also involves managing research risks, collaborating cross-functionally, mentoring colleagues, communicating complex findings, and raising scientific and engineering standards.

Lead engineering team to modernize C#/.NET and React codebases, design scalable distributed systems on cloud (AWS), integrate agentic AI/LLMs into workflows and products, improve CI/CD, reliability and incident response, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional technical strategy.

Experience with production search systems and strong software engineering fundamentals is required; data or AI tooling experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities include coaching engineers, guiding architecture and engineering trade-offs, improving MLOps maturity and observability, translating business goals into delivery plans, managing roadmaps, maintaining system health, and supporting production incidents through code review, debugging, or hands-on development. The role supports AI products including conversational GenAI, automated bank reconciliation, document capture, and cash-flow forecasting.
