Direct Growth teams are dedicated to improving the new subscriber journey. Their work encompasses the initial organization creation and guided setup, personalisation to accelerate customer value realisation and boost trial-to-subscription conversion, and optimising the plan selection process. These teams utilise modern technology and rapid experimentation to enhance customer satisfaction and contribute to Xero's expansion.

Lead and Inspire Engineering Excellence! Drive high-performing engineering teams to deliver exceptional software with speed and quality. As a Team Lead, you'll empower your engineers within Direct Growth teams to excel, cultivate a world-class culture, and ensure a sustainable, productive environment where they can do their best work. You'll champion engineering excellence, foster individual growth, and ensure the team consistently delivers valuable, resilient solutions that delight our customers.
What you'll bring:
- You’ll be a seasoned Team Lead, bringing substantial experience in guiding software delivery and engineering teams through Lean and/or Agile methodologies.
- Your deep understanding of modern software delivery practices and the entire software development lifecycle is evident in your track record of successful team leadership.
- You’ll have a proven track record as coach and mentor, adept at leveraging your extensive software delivery, technical experience, and expertise to provide impactful guidance. Enabling you to deliver the right knowledge at the right time and in the most effective way.
- You'll possess high EQ and a true growth mindset; understanding that competency is not fixed but is enhanced through dedication and hard work. You'll be self aware, self regulated, motivated and empathetic, with great interpersonal skills.
- You'll have a strong understanding of the importance of Xero's Engineering standards and practices and are able to coach teams to adhere to them.
What you'll do:
- Engage, understand, collaborate, and communicate effectively with peers and teams across Xero to drive continuous improvement towards Xero’s sustainably excellent engineering vision.
- Lead your team of engineers to successfully identify, scope, manage, and complete high quality work which delivers measurable improvements to production systems in a timely manner.
- Build cross-team relationships for win-win outcomes
- Foster team growth through feedback, coaching, and opportunities for advancement
- Analyse system health and make regular system health reviews
- Support engineers during incidents and facilitate post incident reviews
- Maintain current knowledge of technologies used in the development of Xero’s software applications.
- Build cross-team relationships and manage stakeholder expectations
