The Workplace Relations team are integral to CommBank's Group People Services team within Human Resources that provide operational workplace relations and human resources advice. This includes, but is not limited to, advice on matters such as performance management, misconduct, workplace grievance review, personal illness, and discrimination/harassment or dispute resolution.

The main functions of this team are to manage, research, analyse and advise on the Group’s workplace policies so that they support the Group’s vision ‘To excel at securing and enhancing the financial wellbeing of people, businesses and communities.’

 

Do work that matters

  • Provide advice and guidance to employees, line and senior management of a particular business unit, HR Direct and BU HR on employment related matters, the resolution of which could involve an external 3rd party or tribunal. Such employment related matters may include, but are not limited to misconduct, discrimination, harassment, bullying, performance management, personal illness and dispute resolution.
  • Support employees and management to settle employee disputes and workplace grievances (including those relating to bullying, harassment, victimisation and discrimination) by advising on and or conducting internal investigations, mediation sessions or early resolution meetings.
  • Deal with the Finance Sector Union (FSU), solicitors and other workplace representatives in the resolution of cases in tribunals, Commissions and/or Courts.
  • Support submissions to Industrial and EEO Tribunals for the Group as required for the management of individual cases. E.g. unfair dismissals, adverse action matters, discrimination, complaints to the Fair Work Ombudsman
  • Facilitate presentations/workshops to HR Direct as well as different levels of management, and employees across the Group on a range of Workplace Relations topics to provide further coaching and training.

 

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR Management, Industrial Relations, law or a related discipline and at least 2 years’ experience in the direct provision of industrial relations advice OR at least 4 years’ experience in the direct provision of industrial relations / employee relations advice.
  • Demonstrable experience in the provision of HR policy advice, workplace investigations and mediation/conflict resolution.
  • An excellent knowledge of the Australian Industrial Relations environment.
  • Well-developed problem solving ability.
  • Strong case management skills and experience
