The Role
Every year, SMEC invites the brightest and most passionate third and penultimate year Civil Engineering students to complete their industrial work placement with us.
This paid internship opportunity is perfect for an undergraduate interested in seeing how their academic knowledge translates into real world engineering and has a passion for creating a better world around them.
Interns are mentored by highly skilled and world respected engineers as well as supported by graduate peers who have come through a similar pathway to a career in Engineering.
This is a great opportunity learn while building lasting friendships, professional relationships and networks.
Our summer interns work full time for 12 weeks from November 2025 to February 2026 (terms may be extended based on business need).
To be considered for this position, you will be:
- Available for the full 12 weeks (except the 2 weeks of Christmas and New Year)
- In your third or penultimate year of undergraduate study in Civil Engineering at an Australian university
- Able to display an excellent work ethic and a commitment to excellence
- Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Committed to making the best of your time at SMEC
