Job Description

A great opportunity for you to get hands-on experience in the practical application of hydraulics and industrial automation solutions, that will support your growth in an engineering career with an industry leader.

As Trades Assistant you will play a crucial role in supporting the service department to ensure production output, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) compliance, and Quality targets are met. You will be responsible for assisting with maintenance requirements for workshop and plant equipment, as well as contributing to component painting tasks and cleaning/sandblasting operations as needed.

This role will provide valuable exposure to maintenance requirements for workshop and plant equipment, component painting tasks, and cleaning/sandblasting operations.

Specific Tasks:

  • Ensure all HSE procedures are followed, and all incidents are reported accordingly.
  • Assist with stripping Pumps & Motors as required.
  • Clean and prepare stripped items to confirm they are fit for purpose before passing them on to other areas for further work.
  • Assist with basic assembly/disassembly tasks as required.
  • Aid in mounting/dismounting units from the test rig.
  • Perform painting of completed units.
  • Engage in basic housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, emptying waste containers, etc.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
  • Work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proactively advise on any safety issues or suggestions and communicate part issues promptly to ensure they are dealt with accordingly.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Labour productivity.
  • Contribution to workshop compliance audits.
  • Contribution to positive workshop member satisfaction ratings.
  • Ensuring tasks are carried out within the required time frame to meet customer and production demands.
  • Ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained.

Qualifications

  • Proven mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of commitment and reliability.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on quality.
  • Effective communication skills.

We would highly regard applicants who are currently studying a Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering degree.
