About Megaport
We’re not your typical tech company – and we don’t want to be. Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), and has transformed the way businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We’re publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with the biggest names in tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, and more. Headquartered in Brisbane with a crew of over 600 people spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our employees enjoy an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and (actually) fun.

Our Team Culture
We’re a team of problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fanatics. Culture is more than a poster on the wall here – collaboration beats hierarchy, curiosity fuels our growth, and everyone’s voice matters. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We work across time zones to execute on our global vision, trust each other to get things done, and never compromise our values for commercial gain. Most importantly, we place our customers at the center of everything we do.

We’re committed to increasing representation in the tech industry and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Don’t meet every requirement? That’s okay. If you’re excited about this role, we encourage you to apply.

Your Role

As a Technical Business Analyst, you'll be a vital link within one of our Software Engineering teams, bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions.

You’ll dive deep to uncover root causes through targeted questioning, challenging assumptions, and ensuring we solve the right problems for our business and customers.

We are looking for someone fast-paced and technically sharp who owns the "why" (defining clear business context, acceptance criteria, and stakeholder impact) while trusting engineers to own the technical "how". You'll keep developers unblocked by answering logic and domain questions, maintaining a well refined backlog, and keeping internal documentation current.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading discovery sessions with stakeholders to capture and document product requirements, ensuring a clear and shared understanding of desired outcomes across the organisation.
  • Visualising complex concepts through technical designs, system workflows, user journeys, and business processes to facilitate clear understanding and alignment on business outcomes.
  • Translating functional requirements into detailed technical specifications, effectively bridging the gap between business and engineering teams.
  • Owning and prioritising the team's backlog of user stories.
  • Collaborating closely with engineers to ensure precise communication and refinement of product requirements.
  • Facilitating agile refinement sessions to drive a shared understanding of project goals and impacts across diverse teams.
  • Continuously improving existing processes to optimise collaboration and efficiency between business and engineering teams.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in Business Analysis or a closely related technical role within agile software development teams.
  • Proven ability to ask targeted questions, challenge assumptions constructively, and focus on root cause analysis over order-taking.
  • Technical sharpness to follow technical discussions, understand API/system workflows, and keep pace with fast-moving engineering teams.
  • Exceptional ability to produce clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong product and domain intuition to make real-time decisions on minor logic questions to prevent developer blockers.
  • Robust analytical and conceptual thinking skills essential for dissecting intricate business problems.
  • Superior planning, organisational, and time management capabilities to effectively prioritise and manage multiple initiatives.
  • Solid understanding and demonstrable experience applying Agile principles within software development teams.
  • Practical experience with APIs, web services, and web-based software projects.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working environment – a remote-first culture with coworking options available
  • Generous leave plans – including, parental leave, birthday leave, and a purchased annual leave program
  • Health and wellness support – through a wellness allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives
  • Comprehensive learning support – generous study and training allowance plus paid study leave
  • Creative, modern workspaces – designed to inspire when you're not working remotely, plus access to coworking spaces via our global WeWork membership if you work remotely, but like to get out of the house sometimes
  • Motivated, inclusive team – work alongside industry experts and fresh talent
  • Recognition programs – celebrate achievements with our Legend and Kudos award

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
