Opened in February 2024, Northern Private Hospital facilities include 4 operating theatres, cardiac cathertisation laboratory, day chemotherapy, sleep study unit, on-site pharmacy, pathology and radiology. The Northern Private is also directly linked to Northern Public Hospital.

Job Description

Northern Private Hospital is seeking an adaptive and experienced Supply Manager to join our stores and supply team, with this role reporting to the Director of Finance and Support Services. The individual is responsible for leading a Supply department that ensures all areas of the hospitals supply needs are replenished in line with operational needs. 

The successful candidate will lead a small but growing team, playing an important hands-on role in ensuring the inventory management (medical supplies and equipment) requirements are met. Responsibilities include ensuring adequate stock is always available, accurate ordering, and reconciliation of prosthesis items. This role plays a pivotal role in having the oversight and control over the end-to-end procurement function from purchasing, receivals, storage, and delivery throughout the hospital.

Your Skills and Experiences 

Essential

• Minimum of 5 years previous inventory management and/or purchasing experience

• Experience in inventory management (inc replenishment and stocktake)

• Experience in purchasing and purchase order management

• Ability to report and present supply information to senior management

• Understanding of inventory follow-on functions (i.e. accounts payable and finance)

• Effective communication (both written & verbal) and proven interpersonal skills

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment & independently as required

• Excellent time management skills, including the ability to multi-task

• Excellent organisational skills

• Proven commitment to safety, continual quality improvement and strong customer focus

• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills

• Proven ability to liaise, negotiate and problem solve with various stakeholders

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

• Experience working with purchasing and inventory control systems

Desirable

• Experience using SAP

• Hospital experience and broad knowledge of supply/ inventory related functions within the health care industry

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or eligibility for membership to CIPS (Chartered Institute Purchasing Services)

• Proven understanding of AS4187; handling and storage of sterile stock

• Completion or progress towards a diploma in Purchasing & Contract Management or equivalent
