We’re seeking an experienced and influential State People Manager to lead our HR Business Partner team and partner closely with Hospital Executives across Victoria. This is a two-year maximum-term opportunity covering an internal secondment. You’ll play a key role in delivering Ramsay’s People and Culture strategy, providing expert advice on complex employment and industrial relations matters, and building leadership and organisational capability to support a high-performing, sustainable workforce. Working collaboratively with Hospital Executives and the National People and Culture team, you’ll shape people strategies, support organisational change and foster a positive and productive workplace culture across the Victorian network.

What You’ll Do

As a trusted partner to Hospital Executives and senior leaders, you’ll lead and develop the Victorian HR Business Partner team, delivering strategic, commercially focused and practical people solutions. You’ll balance strategic priorities with operational requirements, empowering leaders to navigate complex people matters and achieve sustainable workforce outcomes.

  • Lead, coach and develop the HR Business Partner team, building capability and ensuring consistent, high-quality HR services across Victoria.
  • Partner with Hospital Executives and senior leaders to provide strategic advice on complex employment, employee relations and industrial relations matters.
  • Drive People and Culture strategies aligned with national priorities and local operational needs.
  • Build leadership and organisational capability to attract, develop, engage and retain a high-performing workforce.
  • Manage complex industrial relations matters and risks, fostering constructive workplace relationships and minimising industrial disputation.
  • Lead organisational development and change initiatives, supporting leaders and teams to navigate change effectively.
  • Strengthen collaboration between Hospital Executives, National People and Culture and the broader HR Business Partner team.
  • Use commercial and workforce insights to inform decision-making, support cost management and address emerging people priorities.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a credible and influential HR leader who can operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels. With strong HR Business Partnering and industrial relations expertise, you’ll be comfortable advising and constructively challenging senior stakeholders, navigating complex situations and translating people strategies into practical outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Relevant qualifications in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.
  • Proven senior HR Business Partnering and people leadership experience, including the ability to coach and develop a high-performing team.
  • Extensive industrial and employee relations experience, including managing complex workplace matters and a strong understanding of employment legislation and industrial frameworks.
  • Experience in organisational development and change management, with the ability to build leadership capability and support effective change.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to manage conflict and constructively challenge senior leaders.
  • Commercial acumen and workforce management experience, with an understanding of cost management and the operational realities of a large organisation.
  • Experience with enterprise agreement negotiations will be well regarded.
  • A collaborative and accountable approach, with the ability to build partnerships and deliver outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.

What We Offer

  • Opportunities to participate in internal recognition programs and national awards.
  • Employee assistance programs, including counselling and wellbeing support.
  • Corporate discounts across private health insurance, fitness, travel and lifestyle offerings.
  • Professional development assistance and opportunities to build your career within a large healthcare organisation.
  • Flexible Leave Program options, including the ability to purchase additional leave where eligible.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
