About the Role
BDO is seeking an Azure SRE / Platform Engineer to help ensure the reliability, performance and operational excellence of our cloud platforms. As part of the Cloud Engineering team, this role applies Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, automation and modern observability practices to deliver resilient, scalable and well‑operated cloud services.
You’ll play a key role in improving platform stability, reducing operational toil and uplifting engineering maturity across the organisation, while working closely with Platform, Network, DevOps, Security and Cloud Operations teams.
About the TeamThe Cloud Engineering team sits within BDO’s Shared Services Technology function and is responsible for designing, building and operating secure, enterprise‑grade cloud platforms. The team works collaboratively across Technology to enable reliable service delivery, strong governance and continuous improvement, supporting both Cloud Run teams and project delivery squads.
Key ResponsibilitiesApply SRE principles to improve platform availability, performance and resilience
Define and improve SLIs/SLOs, capacity planning and performance optimisation
Lead and support incident response, root cause analysis and problem management
Build and maintain runbooks, operational playbooks and automated remediation
Design and enhance observability using Azure Monitor, Application Insights and logging/alerting platforms
Develop reusable automation, IaC templates and platform tooling
Support Zero Trust controls, governance compliance and resilience testing
Collaborate across Cloud Engineering, Network, DevOps, Security and Service Delivery teams
Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
Proven experience supporting and operating Azure cloud environments at scale
Strong knowledge of SRE practices, incident management and operational automation
Experience with IaC (Bicep/Terraform), scripting and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with monitoring, observability and platform engineering concepts
Azure certifications (AZ‑104 essential; AZ‑305/AZ‑400 advantageous)
Clear communicator with a strong focus on reliability, security and continuous improvement
