Our purpose

Here at Datacom we connect people and technology in order to solve challenges, create opportunities and discover new possibilities for the communities we live in

Our Why

Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow
About the role (your why)

Datacom is undertaking a strategic migration of our internal IT service management platform to ServiceNow. We’re looking for an experienced ServiceNow Solution Architect to lead the end-to-end migration: defining the target architecture, designing integrations and data flows, driving data migration strategy, and working with stakeholders to deliver a scalable, secure, and business-aligned ServiceNow platform.

You’ll be the technical lead for the program, translating business needs into a robust ServiceNow solution, establishing governance and best-practice development processes, and partnering with cross-functional teams (IT operations, security, HR, finance, and applications) to ensure a smooth transition with minimal business disruption.

What you’ll do
At the moment, as Solution Architect, you will be focused on:

  • Define the target ServiceNow architecture for ITSM/ITOM/ITBM (and other modules as needed) including data model, CMDB design, security model, tenancy, and scalability considerations.
  • Own migration strategy and plan: discovery, data mapping, ETL, testing, cutover, and rollback approaches.
  • Design and manage integrations (REST/SOAP, MID Server, LDAP/SSO, event ingestion, third-party tools) and advise on integration patterns and middleware.
  • Lead configuration and customization guidance: scoped app strategy, scripting standards (JavaScript), update set management, source control, CI/CD pipelines and release management.
  • Establish platform governance, development standards, coding conventions, and testing/QA processes.
  • Collaborate with product owners, service teams and senior stakeholders to prioritise requirements, run workshops, and translate outcomes into solutions.
  • Mentor delivery teams and contractors, review technical designs, and perform architecture risk and performance assessments.
  • Support vendor/partner selection and manage technical relationships where external delivery is used.
  • Ensure alignment with security, compliance and change-control requirements.

We are a pretty agile company, and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements and this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What you'll bring
Required:

  • Proven ServiceNow Solution Architect experience leading enterprise migrations or large-scale platform implementations.
  • Deep knowledge across ServiceNow modules (ITSM, CMDB/Discovery, ITOM, ITSM integrations); hands-on configuration and development experience.
  • Strong experience with data migration: discovery tools, data mapping, transformation, reconciliation and validation.
  • Solid integration architecture skills: REST/SOAP, MID Server, LDAP/SSO, webhooks, message queuing patterns.
  • ServiceNow certifications (CSA or higher, CIS, CIS-ITOM desirable) and solid ITIL/enterprise process knowledge.
  • Excellent stakeholder, workshop and communication skills—able to influence senior leadership and technical teams.
  • Experience establishing governance, CI/CD and source-control for ServiceNow development.
  • 7+ years in enterprise architecture or solution architecture roles, with evidence of delivering business outcomes from platform changes.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Orchestration, Event Management, or HR Service Delivery modules.
  • Previous experience in a large systems integrator, MSP or enterprise IT organisation.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and security/compliance frameworks.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
