About our Career Comeback Program

This exciting opportunity is part of our Career Comeback program within CBA’s Technology team. If you’re an experienced Engineering Manager who’s taken a career break of two years or more and are ready to return to the workforce - this could be the program for you!

  • Paid 20-week program starting on Monday 21 July 2025, with the opportunity to roll into permanent employment post program

  • Comprehensive induction program with support from a Program Manager, buddy and dedicated Career Coach

  • Customised learning & development sessions through-out the 20-weeks, including industry-specific training on the latest technologies (Microservices, Cloud, DevSecOps, Full Cycle Engineering, CI/CD)

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team of Engineers, cultivating a growth mindset, and supporting creative and innovative ways of working.  You’ll thrive off coaching and supporting engineers, and establish peer-to-peer learning / mentoring, provide code review and tech debt elimination over tactical delivery. All in the effort to deliver exceptional experiences for customers.

We have multiple positions available for Engineering Managers across varying teams, and if successful in the application process, we will work with you to find the right team fit based on your experience, skillset and interests.  

We’re interested in hearing from people who

  • Have previous Software/Platform Engineering leadership experience

  • Are currently on a career break of 2 years or more (essential)

  • Come from a programming background (i.e. C#, Java, C++)

  • Are big thinkers, encourage constructive feedback and show self-awareness for personal development and continuous learning

  • Have permanent Australian working rights

  • Are Sydney or Melbourne based
