Why you'll love this role as Software Test Engineer at Civica

As a Software Test Engineer, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain automated testing solutions that help identify issues early and ensure high-quality software delivery. You’ll take ownership of designing and developing test frameworks and infrastructure to support reliable testing across web applications, APIs, and backend systems.

Your responsibilities include implementing automated tests, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines, and conducting functional and performance testing using tools like Postman, Insomnia, or K6. You’ll work closely with developers, product managers, and designers to improve testability, product quality, and implementation strategies.

You’ll participate in code reviews, analyse test results, report bugs, and help resolve issues efficiently. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes and applying best practices.

This role plays a key part in supporting Civica’s commitment to delivering dependable, user-focused software through robust testing standards and automation.


Requirements

What you will need to be successful in this role

  • Proven experience in test automation, with a focus on building and maintaining scalable frameworks using Playwright
  • Proficiency in TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of API architectures (REST and gRPC), with hands-on experience in validating API requests and responses
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into development workflows
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Knowledge of .NET (C#) is a plus
  • Understanding of containerisation tools like Docker and orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes
