Job Summary:
At Pfizer Melbourne, our Operators work in a purpose-built 24/7 manufacturing facility across production, inspection, packaging and distribution of goods.
As a Production Operator, you will learn on the job, following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and guidelines to operate and monitor equipment on various product lines to ensure products are produced on schedule and within quality standards. You will work cross-functionally to ensure batch records are completed in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and participate in machinability trials, Performance Qualification (PQ), and Aseptic Process Simulations ensuring filling lines are ready for commercial operations.
The site supports a 24/7 operation. You may be required to work a roster comprised of a day shift, an afternoon shift or a night shift, of either 8 or 12 hours, including weekend work.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Production Operator, you will:
  • Follow hygiene standards within production, inspection and packing areas in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operating Instructions (OIs);
  • Plan work and prepare equipment and materials according to basic manuals and procedures as well as guidance and instructions from senior members;
  • Retrieve production and maintenance related goods and materials from specified areas following relevant safety procedures;
  • Rectify common production or processing errors and address minor problems;
  • Escalate product or process non-conformance to higher level operator or supervisors promptly;
  • Complete and verify production documentation in accordance with relevant SOP's and OI's;
  • Check and maintain quality of work outputs and tidy up and clean equipment and work areas in preparation for handover;
  • Participate in shift meetings, provide hand off information and collaborate with other departments and shifts where required;
  • Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to ensure products meet stringent quality specifications and regulatory standards. Report any deviations or issues and assist in implementing corrective actions;
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, promoting a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety audits;
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on manufacturing processes and equipment across various product lines;
  • Identify opportunities and support the implementation of process improvements and changes that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production workflows.

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • Possess interpersonal, communication and numeracy skills acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent work experience;
  • Basic understanding of VI/VDU and other relevant machinery and equipment;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail;
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures and undertake duties in a safe and responsible manner with guidance from senior members;
  • Basic problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to demonstrate constructive and values-driven behaviour with a can-do attitude.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
  • Bachelor or Science or Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment automation.
  • Previous experience in cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices) aseptic environment.
  • Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
