Job Description

Own GYG's paid social strategy across Meta, TikTok, Google and beyond for a 12-month period to cover maternity leave.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, Media Planning, the Social & Digital Media Planning Manager takes ownership of GYG's paid social output across all platforms. Working closely with our Social Media Content Manager (who owns the organic content calendar), you'll be the expert driving paid amplification, audience strategy and platform performance — in-house, with direct relationships with Meta, TikTok and Google. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to buy, optimise and report at a sophisticated level, and who can move fast in a brand that never stands still.

What You'll Do

  • Own GYG's paid social strategy and implementation across Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and beyond — for Australia and relevant international markets
  • Develop paid social KPIs and measurement frameworks aligned to business outcomes, with monthly reporting to the Leadership Team
  • Build and manage the paid media plan for product launches, national promotions, LTOs and value campaigns across a relentless QSR calendar
  • Manage always-on paid social spend; proactively drive audience strategies, creative testing, optimisations and conversion improvements
  • Collaborate closely with the Social Media Content Manager — who owns the organic content calendar — on all paid amplification of content going to market
  • Support Local Area Marketing and restaurants with social activation at a local and regional level, including new restaurant openings
  • Lead GYG's direct relationships with Meta, TikTok and other social media platforms
  • Own Google and other in-house digital media channels — strategy, implementation and performance reporting
  • Manage the social media budget with accurate planning, tracking and reporting; handle incremental spend from franchisees and ensure all invoicing is in order
  • Monitor emerging trends, cultural moments and platform innovations; identify reactive and real-time marketing opportunities
  • Conduct social listening, competitor benchmarking and sentiment analysis to inform strategy
  • Ensure all content adheres to brand standards and platform guidelines; oversee governance and crisis escalation processes

What You'll Bring

  • Approx. 4–5+ years' experience in a paid social or social media planning role, ideally brand-side or with significant in-house exposure
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Meta Ads Manager and TikTok — you've managed meaningful budgets directly
  • A track record of driving measurable results through paid social — awareness, engagement and conversion
  • Strong understanding of how paid and organic social work together; experience collaborating with content teams in a shared-ownership model
  • Direct platform relationships or a working knowledge of how Meta, TikTok and Google products function
  • High-level written communication skills — you can write sharp digital copy when needed, not just brief it
  • Strong analytical capability — comfortable reading data, building reports and turning insights into recommendations for leadership

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
