Job Description

Ensure smooth daily operations of NEXTDC facilities, manage contractors, and maintain critical infrastructure to Uptime Institute Gold standards, delivering reliable, high-quality outcomes for NEXTDC and its Hyperscale customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing facilities team.
  • Manage daily operations and maintenance of critical systems (electrical, mechanical, UPS, chillers, etc.).
  • Oversee contractors and ensure services meet Uptime Institute Gold standards.
  • Maintain full compliance with WHS, ISO, and company policies.
  • Support recruitment, training, and certification of facility staff.
  • Coordinate rostering, leave, and training to ensure operational coverage.
  • Champion NEXTDC values and lead through organisational change (ADKAR framework).
  • Conduct regular audits, reporting, and equipment testing.
  • Ensure timely incident management and risk escalation.
  • Maintain accurate and current site documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure uptime and customer satisfaction.
  • Support customer equipment handling and service delivery.
  • Manage vendor contracts and contribute to infrastructure upgrades.
  • Participate in the on-call roster for critical system support.

About you:

  • Strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure (electrical, mechanical, cooling, cabling).
  • Familiar with high-density power and cooling technologies and best practices.
  • Experienced in DC systems: DCIM, BMS, EPMS, HVAC, security, and automation.
  • Understands industry codes, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in data centre facilities management or similar mission-critical environments.
  • Proven people management experience, including the ability to build, lead, and develop technical teams.
  • NV1 Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one, is essential.
  • Strong understanding of Uptime Institute (UTI) and ASHRAE standards.
  • A degree/diploma in Engineering or a mechanical/electrical trade qualification is desirable; equivalent experience will also be considered.
