Where we are looking for a full stack, full cycle Software Engineer the main focus for this role will be design and development across Next.js and/or React with the ability to support back-end service e.g API, .NET Core, C#.

Retail Technology is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank and Bankwest Retail - from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We are using technology to streamline banking, ensuring the highest quality of customer service and underpinning this through the development of software as a craft and the adoption of industry best engineering practices.

You’ll be part of the Everyday Products crew, which sits within the Retail Technology – Everyday Banking team. Specifically, you’ll be responsible for developing and owning the technology estate that supports our retail transaction, debit, and retail FX products to deliver simple, innovative and leading customer experiences.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help to shape the future of our digital platform while focusing on designing, developing, and deploying innovative technology solutions that will enable us to build tomorrow's bank today.

You’ll use your skills in implementing complex technical solutions in a cloud-based environment. Also, you’ll have a strong risk mindset in ensuring that appropriate cyber security controls are implemented and play a significant mentoring role in providing technical assistance to the engineers in the team.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • Designs and delivers innovative technical solutions to address strategic business challenges while minimising risk.

  • Have the ability to provide full stack, full cycle design solutions with a key focus on front-end engineering e.g Next.js and/or React

  • Provide experience as a full stack, full cycle engineer supporting back-end development solutions as needed e.g C# .NET Core and/or Java

  • Collaborate with a team of high performing engineers to build and deploy multiple technology solutions that will help define current and future states, as well as the roadmap.

  • Have strong front-end technical skills while being able to understand backend API’s

  • Have a passion for designing, developing, and deploying high quality software solutions with comprehensive test coverage.

  • Are familiar with the full software development lifecycle with a focus on excellent UX, CI/CD, automated testing, logging and monitoring.

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

  • Front End: Experience in Next.js and/or React highly regarded.

  • Back end: Proficient in .NET Core, C# and/or Java.

  • Microservices design and implementation of highly scalable APIs.

  • Solid technical background in building and designing cloud platforms using AWS.

  • Databases: Experience in one or more of the following: SQL Server, Oracle, Mongo DB and Aurora.

  • Technical expertise with container technology: Proficient with Docker, building, deploying and managing containerised applications.

  • Thorough understanding of large-scale distributed systems, solution design and architecture principles.

  • Expertise in setting up DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, logging and monitoring tools (TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Snyk and Sonarqube).

  • Automated quality engineering and testing (Unit Testing, Regression Testing, Performance Testing, etc).
