Senior Software Engineer (Java)

About the role  
  

We are looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to contribute to the solution design and software development of Transurban’s Customer, Billing and Collections platform. 

In this role, you will shape best-practice engineering approaches and ensure our platform continues to evolve with performance, reliability and scalability at its core. As a senior member of the engineering community, you’ll also help foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and technical excellence. 

Day-to-day, you will:  
  

• Design and develop new features and enhancements across the Customer, Billing and Collections platform; 

• Conduct root cause analysis, resolve defects and drive performance improvements; 

• Define and operationalise Engineering Code Management within the Java Platform application domain; 

• Act as a key connector to ensure technical alignment across teams working in the same domain;  

• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors and technical partners  

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:  
  

• Proven experience of designing and building enterprise scale Java applications using J2EE technologies (JSP, JMS, JPA, etc); 

• Experience with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Hibernate would be great to have; 

• Proven experience with integrating applications with Oracle and MySQL databases;  

• Understanding and experience in using the principles of Agile, CI / CD and DevSecOps; 

• Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills; 

• Knowledge or experience with Oracle CC&B (v2.4 or higher) would be beneficial to have; 

• Ability to influence architecture, contribute to technical roadmaps and engage confidently with senior architects; 

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across business and technology teams;
