The Senior Risk & Control Analyst supports effective management of operational, compliance, and conduct risks across the lending, credit cards, and sales finance lifecycle. This role provides risk and control expertise from origination through to collections, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated in line with the organisation’s Risk Management Framework and regulatory requirements.
The role oversees and challenges first-line risk activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and external obligations. As a trusted advisor, the Senior Risk & Control Analyst partners with business leaders to embed a proactive risk culture, strengthen controls, and drive continuous improvement in customer, risk, and compliance outcomes.
Let’s look at some key responsibilities:
Risk & Control Management
Support implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and business risk governance processes.
Facilitate and review ongoing RCSAs, ensuring risks and controls are accurate and aligned to risk appetite.
Conduct key control testing, validate effectiveness, and help remediate gaps.
Identify emerging risks across the product and credit lifecycle and support mitigation strategies.
Establish and monitor KRIs and operational risk events, escalating issues as needed.
Partner with operations, product, and technology teams to ensure risks are managed across new initiatives and change programs.
Incident & Issue Management
Investigate incidents and near misses, perform root cause analysis, and drive actions to closure.
Support issue management by ensuring actions are defined, owned, and delivered on time.
Compliance & Regulatory Assurance
Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Work with Compliance and Legal to assess regulatory changes and support implementation.
Assist with compliance attestations and monitoring activities.
Governance & Reporting
Prepare risk and compliance reports for leadership and committees, providing insights on trends, controls, and incidents.
Maintain accurate risk registers, incident and issue logs, and control and obligation libraries.
Continuous Improvement & Advisory
Support process improvements that reduce risk, simplify controls, and enhance customer experience.
Provide risk advice on new products, credit policy changes, and operational improvements.
Promote operational risk and compliance awareness across the business.
Ideally, we're looking for the following:
Let’s look at you:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, or related discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in operational risk, compliance, or audit within
financial services, preferably consumer lending/credit card and sales finance products.Familiarity with ASIC, APRA, and other regulatory requirements relevant to consumer
finance / financial services across Australia and New Zealand.Strong understanding and experience in the application of risk management
principles, frameworks, and processes including control testing.Analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information, provide quality
insights and make sound recommendationsProficiency in risk management systems (e.g. GRC / Protecht)
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Proactive, curious, and detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
