At Latitude, data drives better decisions, smarter lending, and stronger outcomes for our customers. As a Senior Risk Modeller, you'll play a key role in shaping those decisions by developing and enhancing the quantitative models that underpin our lending and risk management strategies.

Working as part of the Risk Modelling Centre of Excellence, you'll build, maintain and improve models across the full lifecycle of Latitude's financial products. From credit scorecards and IFRS 9 provisioning models through to forecasting, stress testing and emerging risk frameworks, you'll combine data, analytical thinking and commercial insight to help influence critical business decisions.

This is an opportunity to work on high-impact modelling challenges, collaborate with experienced risk professionals, and contribute to the evolution of Latitude's modelling capability as we continue to innovate and embrace new technologies.

Let’s look at some key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy traditional credit risk models in line with established Model Governance framework, including credit scorecards, IFRS 9 models, etc.
  • Identify relevant data sources, clean and prepare modelling data including validation.
  • Support research and development to innovate with new methodologies with a focus on building and deploying explainable and robust models.
  • Support model monitoring, enhancements, and governance across credit scorecards, provisioning, forecasting, stress testing, and climate risk, including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Perform ad-hoc analytics related to model development, monitoring and performance assessment, and provide key insights to business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an agile and accurate contribution to business-critical enquiries and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the delivery of Risk Modelling priorities to tight timelines.

Ideally, we're looking for the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in practical numerate discipline.
  • A successful track record of developing quantitative models in the Consumer Risk Management & Financial Industry (2 years +).
  • Understanding of traditional modelling techniques (e.g., logistic regressions, PD/LGD/EAD), and high-level understanding of newer machine learning techniques.
  • Expertise in data mining and developing quantitative models using multiple programming languages including SQL, Python or R.
  • Commercial acumen along with experience across parts of the credit life cycle.
  • High-level understanding of relevant international and local accounting standards (IFRS9).
  • A curious and business outcome focused approach partnered with a problem-solving attitude.
  • The ability to be a strong collaborator and be comfortable working with business stakeholders to identify and shape problems to be solved with data.
  • You are familiar with AI tools - comfortable using tools to accelerate insights, automate routine work, prepare reporting, and tailor content quickly and effectively.

Sometimes the best candidates don’t have 100% of what is listed above, but if you have most and are confident, you’d be a good fit, we’d love to hear from you!

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
