Let’s introduce ourselves

We’re a venture scaler powered by CommBank. That means we build, buy, and invest in startups that could benefit the bank’s 15 million customers and beyond.

Because of what we do, we’re really neither corporate, nor startup – instead we’re happily navigating the space between both worlds. We're close enough to benefit from the bank’s strategy, scale and stability, but separate enough that we have the autonomy to try new things.  To be a sandbox for change.

Where would you fit?

x15ventures is exploring opportunities within its venture portfolio focused on enabling secure and trusted digital interactions across the property ecosystem. You’ll work closely with the CPO and an experienced cross-functional team to shape and deliver the product roadmap. This role will suit someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, translating product vision into clear priorities, driving execution, uncovering meaningful customer and product insights, and using those learnings to inform decisions quickly. You’ll play a key role in bringing structure, momentum, and product discipline to an early-stage environment.

As Senior Product Owner, you will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of our initiatives from inception to completion and all the pivots that come in between. You will work collaboratively across the squad and with key stakeholders (internal and clients) all while playing a key role in tangibly building our next big thing.

Your responsibilities

  • Define, prioritise, and deliver the product roadmap in close partnership with the CPO, engineering, design, operations, and other key stakeholders.

  • Communicate effectively to the wider team throughout the planning, development, release of product features, and beyond

  • Drive product development concept to launch, ensuring delivery is focused, while operating in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Work hands on with engineering, operations, and design to deliver product features that exceed customer expectations

  • Test concepts in market, and quickly learn and iterate on the product direction

  • Prioritise initiatives within the product roadmap and deliver within big rock / small rock framework

  • Facilitate co-design stakeholder and client workshops to build bespoke products and work with design counterparts to synthesise user research to develop insights and actions to improve the product

  • Be outcome focused by defining, tracking, and communicating product goals

  • Provide clarity on your team’s outcomes, key results, goals, and plans

  • Engage stakeholders to align on product vision, strategy, and execution plans

  • Collaborate with colleagues from diverse functional backgrounds and different organisation levels and geographic locations.

Your skills and experience

  • You have product management experience in digital-first businesses, where automation and simple processes are core pillars in planning and delivery activity

  • You have experience in fintech, banking, financial services, or regulated financial products

  • Experience in a trust-based digital service is advantageous but not essential

  • You have excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • You understand startup ways of working, including how to separate “big rocks” from “small rocks”, focus on the highest-impact priorities, and avoid over-engineering too early

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects / streams at the same time

  • Proficient in utilising qualitative and quantitative data to enhance product performance and quality

  • You’re customer obsessed and can make hard trade-off decisions that best optimise for customer value

  • You will be comfortable with uncertainty, and taking on big challenges that push you outside of your comfort zone

  • You will be curious and open to learning new things, and taking accountability for finding solutions to challenging, ambiguous problems

  • You will be confident to contribute your views, effectively communicating with, and influencing, a range of stakeholders

  • You have high integrity and a strong ethical approach to achieving the right outcomes

  • You have a positive outlook and can inspire the team to achieve success

  • You’re an expert in digital experiences and are excited to push the envelope for innovation.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
