We are looking for a passionate and experienced Local Markets Senior Lead to join our team and drive our local market strategies, with a key focus on Metro Markets.
About the role
The Senior Product & Marketing Specialist will take responsibility for the full marketing mix across a key strategic growth priority at Telstra. This will ensure we provide our customers with the right products, at the right time, whilst recognizing the diverse needs of telco customers in modern Australia.
Product: responsible for development of the Retail product strategy and execution of an E2E operating model across Telstra's National Branded Retail network of over 270 stores.
Place: in collaboration with our store design team, localisation of Product Category execution; development and implementation of innovative new ‘Local’ store formats to enhance customer experience and accessibility.
Promotion: developing and executing market-specific strategies to increase brand awareness, drive sales, and foster community engagement, with a primary focus on Metro Markets.
Price: leading a multi-brand strategy to ensure the effective positioning and growth of various brands and propositions within the local market.
This role requires a deep understanding of local market dynamics, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Research and insights, along with cultural and language considerations, will be crucial in shaping and driving these strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and develop Telstra's Local Retail Product strategy, aligned to the broader Retail strategic and business priorities.
- Leverage strong analytical abilities to evaluate market and consumer trends, develop segmentation models and synthesise findings into actionable insights, aligned with business goals.
- Lead teams to deliver transformational product changes across multiple initiatives, ranging from test and learn pilots to multi-year programs of work.
- Support annual planning processes and influence Executive priorities
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops with frontline, customers and business teams as required to develop detailed requirements.
- Change expert - craft compelling narratives for customers and frontline teams, whilst ensuring initiatives are successfully embedded.
- Stay up to date with leading industry and market best practices to bring to life new ways and technologies to deliver business operations solutions for the business.
- Conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities and trends within Metro Markets. Utilize insights from research to inform and drive strategic decisions and initiatives.
- Plan and execute local events, promotions, and marketing tactics to enhance brand visibility in Metro Markets.
- Collaborate with sales and product teams to ensure alignment of local market initiatives with overall company goals.
- Manage local budgets and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
- Ensure cultural considerations and local language nuances are integrated into all market strategies and initiatives.
- Lead the development and implementation of innovative new ‘Local’ store formats to enhance customer experience and accessibility.
About you
To be successful in the role, you'll have:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- Proven experience in adapting national strategies to local markets
- Proven experience navigating and influencing a complex matrix corporate structure
- Strong understanding of local market dynamics and consumer behavior, particularly for multicultural audiences
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using relevant tools and software.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and proficiency in local languages is a plus.
