As a Senior Product Designer at R/GA, you will define and optimize digital products, collaborating with teams to deliver outstanding user experiences and business results.

At R/GA, we design business and brands for a more human future, with a focus on creative innovation for the intelligence age.

We believe our best work comes from audacious combinations of people and skills to create something new. We are a network of talent, operating as a team of 1,600 multidisciplinary, collaborative people with the power of big and the speed of small.

As a Senior Product Designer at R/GA, you are an expert in defining, creating and optimising digital products that delight customers and deliver growth for clients. You will have hands-on involvement and influence on client products in their automotive digital ecosystem from inception to launch and beyond.

On any given day you might:

  • Design end-to-end experiences: from discovery and journey mapping to high-fidelity UI, motion, and prototypes.
  • Own the UX: define flows, interactions, and information architecture that solve real user problems and drive business results.
  • Perfect the UI: create pixel-perfect screens, refine typography, colour, grids, and component behaviour until it sings.
  • Validate and iterate: use research, data, and quick prototypes to test ideas before implementation.
  • Build and evolve design systems that are consistent but flex for product and ecosystem growth.
  • Collaborate with product managers and strategists to align design decisions with market positioning, business goals, and user needs, creating clear rationales for validation with clients.
  • Bring market context into the work: analyse competitors, spot opportunities for differentiation, and bake that into your design choices.
  • Explore how AI, automation, and emerging tech can give users an edge and make experiences smarter.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, lifting the level of craft and thinking across the team.

You’d be the right fit if you:

  • Have your roots or qualifications in visual design, with an exceptional ‘eye’.
  • Don’t mind going deep on one client in one industry vertical so that you master the entire ecosystem and know how to evolve it in line with changing trends in consumer behaviour.
  • Think like a product strategist but design like a craft-obsessed maker.
  • See AI, data, and emerging tech not as tools, but as creative materials to build more intelligent experiences. You are curious about generative UI and conversational commerce opportunities and application.
  • Know design systems inside and out: how to build them from scratch, document them clearly, maintain consistency across platforms, and evolve them as your client’s ecosystem expands.
  • Can zoom out and design for the big picture (brand, business, market context)
  • Have a sixth sense for human behavior and design interfaces that feel intuitive before users even know what they need.
  • Are allergic to “just making it look good”: you want it to feel right, work seamlessly, and provide utility in context.
  • Prototype fast, test relentlessly, and aren’t precious about throwing away your first idea (or your third).
  • Thrive in multidisciplinary teams where great ideas can come from anywhere
  • Read the market like a creative entrepreneur: you care about why something should exist, who it’s for, and how it outperforms the competition.
  • Are excited (and a little restless) about where design is headed in the intelligence age and want to help lead it.
  • Have exceptional presentation and storytelling skills

You bring:

  • 5+ years designing digital products or platforms with highly successful outcomes.
  • A portfolio that shows end-to-end thinking — from problem framing to final interface, with measurable impact.
  • Deep UX expertise: mapping journeys, defining flows, running workshops, user testing, applying research insights.
  • UI mastery: grids, type, visual hierarchy, motion, and accessibility best practices.
  • Expertise in Figma and prototyping tools like Framer, ProtoPie, or Principle.
  • Experience building and scaling component libraries and design systems.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams — you know how to get product, tech, and business on the same page.
  • Commercial thinking: you can weigh design decisions against market realities and business outcomes.
  • Bonus 1: Experience on automotive clients
  • Bonus 2: front-end familiarity (HTML/CSS) or motion design skills to communicate interactions clearly.

Our Values

Our purpose is to create a more human future. We lead by our six values:

  • We’re kind humans. We’re not “resources”, we’re real people. We treat everyone with integrity and respect, and leave our egos in the elevator.
  • We’re outsiders. We go where others won’t to uncover hidden opportunity. We challenge tradition and ignore the status quo. We don’t care what everyone else is doing, only what we’re doing next.
  • We’re better together. None of us are as good as all of us. Brilliant ideas can come from anywhere, but more often than not ours come from everyone. We thrive on our differences and actively collaborate across regions, time zones, and cultures.
  • We’re changemakers. We choose to embrace change. We don’t just react to today; we act on tomorrow. We want to change the world (and we’re not afraid of changing ourselves in the process).
  • We’re radical optimists. We’re in love with the possibility, but never blind to the reality. We can tease out the potential in any problem, and once we find the silver lining, we’ll get to work mining it.
  • We’re always learning. We stay relentlessly curious, forever looking for new ways of doing things. We know there’s no such thing as perfection, and that’s fine, because the journey is just as important as the destination.

Diversity
No-matter who you are, where you’re from, who you love, follow in faith, disability (or superpower) status, ethnicity or the gender you identify with (please do tell us your pronouns), you're welcome at R/GA. If you have any requests or requirements to support you throughout any interview process, please do let us know.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
