We believe in putting people first and we are proud to have developed a work culture that fosters growth, collaboration and success.

About the role:

The Senior Manager, Tax Technical Learning & Development plays a key role in supporting technical capability across Tax Services, as well as Business Advisory insofar as there is intersection. The position is responsible for developing, maintaining and delivering technical learning content, coordinating learning programs and working with technical specialists to ensure training remains current, practical and aligned to business needs.

  • Develop and maintain a structured national tax technical learning curriculum aligned with the division’s tax competency framework.

  • Develop and facilitate selected tax technical learning sessions, using practical examples and case studies appropriate to participants' roles and experience levels.

  • Review learning content prepared by internal contributors and external providers for technical accuracy, currency, clarity and alignment with the agreed learning objectives.

  • Coordinate with service line leaders and subject matter experts to agree learning priorities, clarify responsibilities and minimise duplication across national, service line and local programs.

  • Work with specialist service lines to identify their technical learning requirements and agree the most appropriate support, including curriculum design, content development, facilitation or coordination of subject matter experts.

  • Maintain existing learning materials so they reflect changes in tax law, ATO guidance, relevant authorities and firm technical positions.

  • Monitor participation, program coverage and participant feedback, and use those insights to refine learning priorities, delivery methods and future content.

  • Build a network of internal presenters and content contributors, providing guidance and support to strengthen facilitation capability and promote sustainable delivery across the division.

  • Provide regular updates to the Partner, Tax Technical on program progress, priorities and any technical, delivery or resourcing risks requiring attention.

About you:

  • CTA, Master of Tax, or equivalent tax technical qualification, with substantial post-qualification experience in a tax role.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating technical training to an experienced professional audience, including managing group discussion and responding to technical questions in real time.

  • Strong current technical knowledge across tax, with the versatility to operate across different areas of tax and judgement to identify when content requires further technical review.

  • Experience developing training curriculum or structured technical content from scratch, rather than solely delivering material developed by others.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across service lines, local leaders, subject matter experts and external providers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical material into content suitable for varied audiences and experience levels.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
