Your New Role 

Reporting to the Principal, Strategy & Performance, the Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Performance is responsible for preparing an annual recommendation of the Fund’s strategic posture and priorities, with consideration of the Fund’s performance, financials, competitive positioning, capability requirements, differentiation in market, progress towards strategic targets and other relevant considerations. 

 

The role is also accountable for the development and implementation of a Fund wide performance framework which aligns performance metrics throughout the Fund with those in the Fund Strategy. 

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • The development and maintenance of the Fund’s long term corporate strategy (including where we play and position in the industry, strategy pillars, enablers and long-term strategic vision and goals) in accordance with the Fund’s strategic, commercial, risk and regulatory requirements. 

  • Supporting other Domains with strategy development and ensuring alignment to the Fund’s strategic goals, pillars and programs. 

  • Ensuring the Fund Strategy remains fit for purpose through market and industry cycles and changes, including establishing appropriate metrics and targets for tracking the Fund’s progress towards its strategic goals. 

  • Prepare an annual recommendation of the Fund’s strategic posture and priorities, with consideration of the Fund’s performance, financials, competitive positioning, capability requirements, differentiation in market, progress towards strategic targets and other relevant considerations. 

  • Develop a rolling three-year Strategic Plan for the Fund, delivered annually for endorsement by the Board. This is to be built in conjunction with the Fund’s Finance and Reporting department.

  • Conduct deep dive and root cause analysis where performance is not at target and make recommendations to the Principal or Head of S&T or Chief Strategy Officer or accountable person for remediation and monitoring to achieve agreed targets, outcomes or goals

  • Drive a strong service and excellence-oriented culture with accompanying KPIs, within the team and with suppliers and partners.

  • Lead the team to operate and make decisions according to the Fund’s Policies, Standards and Procedures and the Fund’s Key Decision Registers and the delegated authorities.

  • Ensure relevant legislative and organisational requirements are met; keep up to date on all key changes to relevant regulations. 

     

 

 

 

 

 

What You’ll Need   


  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, finance, business or related fields. 

  • Experience developing and delivering commercial strategies within a corporate strategy function or as a management consultant.

  • Demonstrated experience and interest in strategic delivery, transformation or business planning within large & complex environments.

  • High level analytical and problem-solving experience and skills. 

  • High level communication, influencing, stakeholder management and networking abilities. 

  • Sound understanding of the finance/superannuation industry and its participants (advantageous).

  • Sound understanding of ethical, commercial business practices. 

  • Demonstrated capacity to work in high pressure and complex environments. 

  • Ability to lead, develop and motivate a highly specialised team.
