About the Role

Join Melbourne's fast-growing Risk Advisory Services team as a Senior Manager, Internal Audit & Risk Advisory. 

Working closely with Partners, Directors and client executives, you will lead the delivery of large internal audit, governance and risk advisory engagements across a diverse client portfolio. You will play a key role in managing client relationships, overseeing complex engagements and contributing to the continued growth of our Internal Audit practice. 

This is an opportunity to work with organisations across a broad range of industries while helping clients strengthen governance, manage risk and improve business performance. 

 

About The Team 

BDO's Risk Advisory Services team partners with clients to strengthen governance, risk management and organisational performance. 

Our services include internal audit, governance reviews, risk management, regulatory compliance, controls assurance, board and committee effectiveness, and broader risk advisory solutions. 

Our Melbourne team is one of the fastest growing in the market and is focused on building something that feels different for both our clients and our people. We combine technical expertise with a practical, commercial approach and work collaboratively across the broader BDO network to deliver meaningful outcomes. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of complex internal audit and risk advisory engagements across a diverse client portfolio. 

  • Develop risk-based internal audit plans and oversee fieldwork, testing, reporting and stakeholder engagement activities. 

  • Provide practical advice to clients on governance, risk management and internal control frameworks. 

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Executive leadership teams, Audit & Risk Committees and Boards. 

  • Present findings, recommendations and insights to senior stakeholders. 

  • Manage the overall client account from building client relationship, financial management, lead the engagement, timeliness and quality outcomes. 

  • Mentoring and coaching team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture. 

  • Support business development activities including proposal preparation, client presentations and identification of growth opportunities. 

  • Work closely with Partners and Directors to contribute to the strategic growth and development of the Melbourne Risk Advisory Services practice. 

About You 

  • Significant experience in Internal Audit, Risk Advisory, Assurance or Governance, Risk & Compliance within professional services, consulting or industry. 

  • Demonstrated experience leading internal audit engagements and managing client relationships. 

  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management and internal control frameworks. 

  • Experience presenting findings and recommendations to Executive stakeholders, Audit & Risk Committees and Boards. 

  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple engagements and deliver high-quality client outcomes. 

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and report-writing skills. 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, with professional certifications such as CA, CPA, CIA or equivalent highly regarded. 

  • A people-centric mindset with a passion for developing teams and delivering meaningful outcomes for clients.
