Job Description

Join Jetstar as Senior Manager, Network Planning Domestic Australia & Airports. In this influential role, you will lead the domestic Australia network strategy development and optimisation across our route network, as well as driving our relationships and commercial opportunities with airports. Your paramount responsibility is to ensure the profitability of this network, steering long-term strategic planning, collaborating across teams for aircraft and capacity coordination, network design, competitor analysis, and in-season capacity management. 

This role requires a deep understanding of revenue dynamics, customer preferences, cost structures, and infrastructure constraints to ensure the optimal deployment of aircraft. You'll be instrumental in determining the right aircraft, routes, frequencies, and timings to optimise profitability, operational reliability, and customer outcomes.

The core responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Develop network strategies to maximise network, market and route performance, including delivering earnings growth initiatives such as new routes, optimisations and exits
  • Actively manage capacity settings to deliver annual EBIT outcomes while aligning to long-term strategic objectives
  • Lead seasonal capacity management, identifying optimisation opportunities and managing trade-offs to balance profitability, reliability and customer outcomes
  • Partner with Scheduling and operational planning functions to enable strong schedule and slot outcomes and improved aircraft utilisation through scenario modelling and optimisation
  • Build and manage airport relationships and incentives, working with airports, tourism bodies and government stakeholders to maximise commercial and operational outcomes
  • Represent Jetstar in Qantas Group forums, advocating for best financial and strategic outcomes in the context of Group value
  • Drive innovation in network optimisation, including the adoption of planning and optimisation tools and leveraging data and analytics for marginal gains

To be considered, key skills will include:  

  • Airline experience (7+ years of airline network planning, financial/strategic or commercial planning, and/or management consulting 
  • In-depth knowledge of the airline industry and the Australian aviation market
  • Experience with stakeholders across airports, government and tourism bodies
  • Functional knowledge across marketing, sales, distribution and customer facing business areas highly regarded  
  • Airline modelling and systems experience advantageous, especially network modelling tools  
  • Data analytics expertise highly regarded 
  • Experienced people leader who consistently achieves business targets and builds capability through coaching, development, and engagement
  • Proven ability to consider analytical inputs and diverse qualitative inputs to make high quality decisions  
  • Balanced risk appetite with willingness to take carefully measured risks and apply learnings to future decision making
