The Opportunities:

This role leads and oversees the financial reporting function for AIA Australia, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of all internal, external, statutory and regulatory reporting. It is also accountable for key financial control activities, including oversight of finance internal controls, and the preparation of finance-related Board Audit Committee and Board papers.

To do this successfully you will:

  • Lead, coach and develop the team, prioritising BAU and project workloads while driving individual performance and capability uplift.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, including statutory financial statements, APRA returns and AIA Group submissions.
  • Manage external audit relationships, including end-to-end coordination, provision of workpapers and resolution of audit queries.
  • Oversee financial controls and governance, including internal controls, certification processes, and preparation of Board and Board Audit Committee papers.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership, including preparation of accounting papers, advising on complex issues, and ensuring compliance with evolving standards and regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process efficiencies, contributing to finance projects, and strengthening risk management practices and stakeholder relationships.

Successful applications will demonstrate:

  • Relevant qualifications, including a Bachelor of Accounting and CA or CPA (or equivalent), with strong technical accounting expertise, ideally within financial services.
  • Proven leadership capability, with strong organisational and planning skills, and a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across business units and external partners.
  • Strong judgement and problem-solving ability, with experience making critical decisions under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines.
  • Experience driving change and continuous improvement initiatives, with the ability to balance transformation activities alongside BAU delivery.
