About the Role

The Corporate Affairs Senior Manager is a leadership role within the Clients & Markets function. Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Communications, the role is responsible for setting BDO Australia’s corporate affairs strategy and leading a dedicated Corporate Affairs team, ensuring communications are clear, coordinated, riskaware and aligned to firm strategy and values. 

The role provides trusted advice to the Chief Executive Partner and leadership during crisis or significant issues situations and is accountable for strengthening and protecting BDO Australia’s reputation through disciplined governance and delivery. 

 

Key priorities will be within the following areas: 

  • Corporate Affairs (including for internal areas such as firm strategy and leadership communications);

  • Media and External Affairs; 

  • Issues and Crisis Communications; 

  • Team leadership 

About You 

This position is suited to an individual with: 

  • Demonstrated experience in corporate affairs, communications or PR roles; 

  • Demonstrated experience in media, issues and crisis communications (essential); 

  • Strong stakeholder management capability, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders and Partners in complex environments; 

  • Strong understanding of Australian media environments; 

  • Proven ability to build a collaborative, high performing team culture focused on continuous improvement and accountability; 

  • Strong people leadership capability, including coaching, capability uplift and developing talent within the team; 

  • Experience in professional services or complex corporate organisations preferred; 

  • Strong judgement, discretion and stakeholder management capability; 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or related discipline.
